HMV VA & VB Records list 1952

For the Opera lover the 1950's was an expensive time - original recordings were difficult to obtain and frequently were never for open sale but went from collector to collector and the Novice would have had no opportunity , even if they had the money .

HMV Brought out the HMV VA & VB Series so that Collectors could hear some of the Great Singers in an easily accessable form - the HMV No 2 series preceded it starting in 1935 but by 1950 these were issued.

Even so for the average collector these prices were very high - oddly enough in the last 5 years i think i have most if not all

Wealth without work. Pleasure without conscience. Knowledge without character .Commerce without morality. Science without humanity. Worship without sacrifice. Politics without principle.

Money. Greed. Naivety. Falsehoods. Exploitation. Welcome to the wonderful world of gramophones!
